What Is Gunite?
Gunite is concrete, to put it simply. In fact, gunite actually describes the process in which the concrete is applied to the walls and floors of the pool to form your custom pool. Similar to traditional concrete, gunite is created using sand, water, and cement to form fast-drying concrete. However, instead of pouring the concrete into wooden frames that will then form slabs, gunite uses spray technology that allows it to take a more custom shape.
How Does the Process Work?
As mentioned above, traditional concrete is poured into wooden frames where it sets in slabs. Gunite, on the other hand, uses spray technology to create a custom shape. Gunite is applied to your pool using pressurized air to push dry concrete mix through a tube or host. The dry concrete then mixes with the water and forms the wet concrete you're used to, which is then sprayed onto whatever surface the hose is aimed at. The end result is a thin layer of wet concrete that adheres to the surface in whatever shape it forms.
